L'Intelligent d'Abidjan:
The bi-monthly tripartite meeting of the military chiefs of the Ivorian Armed
Forces, the UNOCI Force and the French Force Licorne took place on Tuesday 20
August to review the security situation in Cote d'Ivoire and discuss the
training of members of the Ivorian Army.
Nord-Sud Quotidien:
Victims of the post electoral crisis in Adjame Bromokate were the beneficiaries
of food aid worth CFA 3 million francs (6000 USD) offered by the Jordanian
battalion of the UNOCI Force recently.
L'Inter:
The General Affairs Commission of the Ivorian National Assembly on Tuesday 20
August unanimously adopted three bills related to the acquisition of Ivorian
nationality by declaration, the nationality code and customary laws on land
ownership in rural areas.

The President of the Collective of Elites of Gagnoa and senior official of the
FPI party, Dano Djedje has said he was "shocked and profoundly outraged" at
accusations levelled against him for threatening the life of National Assembly
President, Guillaume Soro. Mr. Djedje denied the accusations, saying the
intention had never crossed his mind. During a recent visit to the Goh region by
the National Assembly President, the Collective of Gagnoa elites issued a
statement asking the National Assembly President to limit his visit to the
Gagnoa municipal area and to stay away from the villages of Mama, Gnaliepa and
Kpogrobre because the Collective considered the visit "a demonisation,
humiliation and submission operation." Meanwhile L'Inter reports
that 72 hours after his visit, Mr. Soro has dispatched a peace mission to Gagnoa
to continue efforts aimed at promoting reconciliation.

The Democratic Party of Cote d'Ivoire, PDCI is said to have split in two
following the recent party conclave in Yamoussoukro. A rival PDCI parliamentary
group is expected to be announced in the days ahead. L'Inter
reports that PDCI youth wing president Kouadio Konan Bertin, KKB has declared
the decisions of the conclave null and void. KKB said he was satisfied that the
conclave agreed with his position that the PDCI should present a candidate at
the 2015 presidential election. KKB is said to be at loggerheads with PDCI
President Henri Konan Bedie whom he wants ousted from the party leadership
during the next PDCI Congress in October. Meanwhile PDCI Secretary-general
Djedje Mady is to hold a press conference today in which he is expected to
announce his candidature for the presidency of the party.

The National Press Council has lifted its suspension of the Quotidien d'Abidjan
newspaper which was suspended for 26 editions on 6 August. The Council said it
had taken into consideration the commitment of the newspaper to strictly respect
the rules governing the profession.
