
At the end of the meeting, FESCI Chairman said he had submitted to the Special Representative a list of their grievances, which were among others, the lack of laboratory equipment and libraries in schools and universities; rising tuition fees and difficult living conditions on the university campuses.
"All these issues are the reasons behind students' anger. This situation led us to raise our voices to be heard," he added. He also said he promised to the Head of UNOCI that FESCI would not disturb the peace in universities.
Mr. Assi pleaded for a platform of discussion between students and the Higher Education Ministry.
Classes have been interrupted since last week in some universities and colleges because of a strike by students.
