Press release - UNOCI 1318...The United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI) regrets to announce the death of a Senegalese soldier serving with the Mission's Force, on 28 October 2014, in a road accident near Vavoua, in the Haut Sassandra region.

Corporal Omar Diedhou, who arrived in Côte d'Ivoire on 9 November 2013, was part of the Senegalese Battalion deployed in Yamoussoukro. He was 42 years old, married with four children.

He is the 83rd peacekeeper to die since UNOCI was deployed in April 2004.

UNOCI presents its sincere condolences to the family of Corporal Diedhou and the Senegalese Government.
