Speaking at the end of the meeting, Ms Zidi-Aporeigah said: "We had wide-ranging discussions about the dynamics and the future of United Nations Volunteers (UNV) who are currently serving with the Mission and the importance of documenting their contribution with regard to the transfer of competencies and capacity to national staff".
"The Special Representative gave us her opinion on these issues and our discussions were constructive," she added.
Ms Zidi-Aporeigah said she was pleased with the discussions, noting that the head of UNOCI is an ally. "She understands the programme, she understands its value and she recognises the contribution that UNVs have made, especially in UNOCI," she declared.
Some 159 UN Volunteers work in UNOCI, while about 20 others, national and international, work with UN agencies in Côte d'Ivoire.
