Mrs Aïchatou Mindaoudou and Mr. Laurent Bigaud discuss the situation in Côte d’Ivoire and the sub-region

The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire, Mrs Aïchatou Mindaoudou, on Thursday, 3 October 2013, held discussions with Mr. Laurent Bigaud, a strategic consultant on West Africa. They discussed the situation in Côte d'Ivoire and the West African sub-region.

"{I came to see the Special Representative to discuss the situation in Côte d'Ivoire. We exchanged our points of view on the political situation and the reconciliation process, DDR and the general situation in the sub-region}," said Mr. Bigaud after the meeting.

"The Special Representative knows only too well what is at stake in Côte d'Ivoire,"said the strategic consultant on West Africa. "{This exactly why the United Nations is here to accompany the Ivorians and create mediation and confidence between the stakeholders. The process is going to be long so we must be patient}," concluded Mr. Bigaud.
