Let's celebrate International Day of Peace on 21 September 2013 with the theme « Education for Peace »

"{On this International Day of Peace, let us pledge to teach our children the value of tolerance and mutual respect. Let us invest in the schools and teachers that will build a fair and inclusive world that embraces diversity. Let us fight for peace and defend it with all our might} ". statement by the United Nations secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on International Day of Peace celebrated on 21 September 2013 with the theme « Education for Peace ».

Each year International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. Since 1981, the United Nations General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples.

The United Nations invites all nations and people to honour a cessation of hostilities during this Day, and to otherwise commemorate the Day through education and public awareness on issues related to peace

As part of the celebration of this Day, the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI) has decided to publish articles on its website www.onuci.org, for a period of one week, on a series of activities and projects organised by Ivorians with the support of the UN Mission to promote peace, reconciliation and social cohesion.
