Closure of OSES

The Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for the Sahel (OSES) was established in December 2012 to lead and coordinate UN political efforts in advancing peace and development in the region. Its responsibilities were transferred to the UN Office for West Africa and the Sahel.

UN Special Envoy vows for coordinated efforts to overcome the challenges facing the Sahel

The New Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for the Sahel, Mrs. Hiroute Guebre Sellassie, presented today in New York the Secretary-General report on the Sahel to the UN Security Council. She briefed its members on progress made towards the implementation of the United Nations Integrated Strategy the Sahel, and shared her impressions on the future direction of the UN regional efforts in the Sahel.
