This August, MONUSCO has demonstrated its commitment through a range of meaningful and impactful actions. MONUSCO helps over 200 conflict-affected youth in Munigi by offering them a chance for social reintegration. Thanks to training in hairdressing, mechanics and pastry-making, these young people, including former child soldiers and victims of violence, can now earn a living and contribute to community peace... Faced with fear of armed attacks, residents of Fataki and Lodha, in Ituri, take refuge near MONUSCO bases. A face-to-face meeting took place on August 21 between these communities and the Force Commander, General Ulisses de Mesquita Gomes. While the communities implored MONUSCO not to leave, the MONUSCO force commander announced the reinforcement of operations against armed groups. Discover it here.

In Beni (North Kivu), MONUSCO's prison administration support unit organized a free medical campaign for 130 inmates at Kangbayi prison. Kenyan, Pakistani, Indian, Nepalese and Malawian peacekeepers provided care to the detainees. Discover here.
