On 12 June, MINURSO celebrated Russia’s National Day by raising its flag at the Mission headquarters in Laayoune next to the UN flag.
On this day, in 1991, the Russian parliament formally issued the Declaration of Russian State Sovereignty.
The Russian Federation is a permanent member of the UN Security Council and a contributor of uniformed personnel to UN peacekeeping operations worldwide, including to MINURSO.
